Physical Properties Of Matter Flashcards
Liquid
Matter at takes the shape of its container and takes up a definite amount of space. The particles in a liquid move past each other easily.
Gas
Matter that has no definite shape and takes up no definite amount of space. Particles in a gas are not close together and the amount of space gases occupy depend on the amount of space inside their container.
Volume
The amount of space matter occupies or takes up
Volume is often measured in cubic centimeters. 1 cubic centimeter = 1 milliner
Volume can also be calculated using the formula v=l x w x h
Density
The property of matter that compares the amount of matter to the space taken up.
d=m/v
The units are g/mL or g/cc
Solution
A mixture in which the particles of different kinds of matter are mixed evenly with each other.
