Physical Diagnosis OMT Integration Flashcards
Viscerosomatic reflexes: PSNS Influence
1) Vagus (CN10 via OA and AA) - everything above/below diaphragm proximal to mid-transverse colon
2) Pelvic splanchnic nerve (S2-S4) - everything below diaphragm distal to mid-transverse colon
Viscerosomatic reflexes: SNS Influence T1-T4 T1-T6 T2-T8 T5-L2 T11-T12
T1-T4 - H/N, heart (via cervical ganglia) T1-T6 - heart and lungs T2-T8 - UE T5-L2 - all of GI tract and pelvis T11-T12 - LE
Viscerosomatic reflexes: SNS Influence on the GI tract and pelvis.
T5-T9 - nerve»_space; G»_space; organ
T10-T11 - nerve»_space; G»_space; organ
T12-L2 - nerve»_space; G»_space; organ
T5-T9 - Greater splanchnic n»_space; celiac G»_space; upper GI, liver, duodenum, pancreas
T10-T11 - Lesser splanchnic n»_space; sup. mesenteric G»_space; small intestines, R colon, adrenals, gonads, kidneys, upper half of ureter
T12-L2 - Least spanchnic n»_space; inf mesenteric G»_space; lef tcolon, pelvis, lower half of ureter, baldder, genetalia
What does the right lymphatic duct drain?
right side of head, R UE, heart, lungs
What does the left lymphatic duct drain?
everything R duct does not drain (everything except the right side of head, R UE, heart, lungs)
Tx order for lymphatics:
- RELEASE THORACIC OUTLET
Area 1: thoracic inlet down to thoracoabdominal diaphragm
Area 2: abdominal diaphragm down to pelvic diaphragm
Area 3: UE (or Area 4, whichever is worse)
Area 4: LE
Area 5: H/N
