Adolescence (9-18 years old)

- Puberty is the process towards sexual maturity
- Puberty for females starts between the ages 8 and 13
- Puberty for males starts between the ages of 9 and 14
- The sex hormones trigger growth and maturity of the primary sexual characteristics
- The sex hormones trigger the emergence of secondary sexual characteristics

Early adulthood (19-45 years old)
A
- Sexual maturity is reached
- Peak in fertility
- Full height is reached
- Peak of physical fitness including mobility, stamina, strength

Middle adulthood (46-65 years old)
A
- Females go through perimenopause
- Female enter menopause
- The ageing process commences

Later adulthood (65+ years old)
A
- The ageing process accelerates and can lead to a deterioration of physical health
- Mobility and dexterity decline due to loss of muscle mass and strength and loss of bone density
- Disgeneration of sense organs, worsening eyesight, hearing and taste
- Body systems weaken and organs do not work as well
- Immune system weakens making them more susceptible to common illnesses
