Pentamerous symmetry, Exclusively marine animals, spiny-skinned, Eucelomates(triploblastic), Endoskeleton made up of calcium carbonate ossicles, open circulatory, mouth is present on the oral side, anus on aboral side, tube feet aid in locomotion, reproduce sexually through external fertilization (dioecious-diff sexes), some asexual through regeneration, poorly developed sense organs, chemoreceptors, tactile organs, and terminal tentacles
Class Asteroidea- star fish
flattened, star-shaped body with 5 arms, tube feet with suckers, respiration through papulae-skin gills, body comprises of calcareous plates and movable spines, pedicellaria is present.
Class Ophiuroidea-Brittle stars
The body is flat with pentamerous discs, no suckers on tube feet
Class Echinoidea-sea urchin and sand dollar
tube feet with suckers, no arms, compact endoskeleton, from tests when dead
Class Holothuroidea-sea cucumber
body is long and cylindrical, arms, spines, and pedicellerae are absent, tube feet with suckers
