phototrophs Flashcards
gram
-ive
types
photolithoautrophs and photoorganoheterotrophs
egs of some
cyanobacteria, purple or green sulfur bacteria and purple or green non-sulfur bacteria
ETC
all photosynthetic bacteria use light to excite e- (excited means e- have more -ive reduction potential)
what happens to e- after they are excited
can spontaneously pass through an ETC. each component of ETC has more +ive reduction potential. nrg is released and creates a PMF. ATP is synthesized by ATP synthase. photophosphorylation
the ETC have various pigments that do what. give an eg
absorb light at diff wavelengths. chlorophylls are found in cyanobacteria
bacteriochlorophylls found in purple and green bacteria do hwat
similar structure as chlorophyll but absorb diff wavelengths of lights. also give organism its colour
