Photosythesis Flashcards
What is an Autotroph? Give an example.
An organism that is able to form nutritional organic substances from simple inorganic substances. An example would be plants. Like a Lily.
What is a heterotroph? Give an example.
An organism deriving its nutritional requirements from complex organic substances. An example would be humans.
Define photosynthesis.
Photosynthesis is how plants make their food. Plants use inorganic substances like water and sun light to create is food, and the oxygen we breath.
What do ADP and ATP stand for?
ADP-adenosine Di phosphate
ATP-adenosine Tri phosphate
What is the difference between ADP and ATP?
When the third phosphate is removed from ATP, you get ADP. The molecule has less energy.
What is the fix of ATP in cells?
Mitochondria
List of activities that require ATP?
Keeping body warm
Walking
Climbing stairs
Muscles contracting
What are the 3 parts of ATP?
Adenine
Ribose
Phosphate groups
What is the equation for photosynthesis?
6CO2+6H2O—->C6H12O6 & 6O2
What are the reactants for photosynthesis?
Carbon dioxide and Water
