what is ATP ?
Adenosine 5’-triphosphate, or ATP, is the principal molecule for storing and transferring energy in cells. It is often referred to as the energy currency of the cell and can be compared to storing money in a bank.
what is Cellular Respiration ?
Cellular respiration, the process by which organisms combine oxygen with foodstuff molecules, diverting the chemical energy in these substances into life-sustaining activities and discarding, as waste products, carbon dioxide and water.
what is Chloroplast ?
Chloroplasts are plant cell organelles that convert light energy into relatively stable chemical energy via the photosynthetic process. By doing so, they sustain life on Earth.
what is Glucose ?
Glucose is the main type of sugar in the blood and is the major source of energy for the body’s cells. Glucose comes from the foods we eat or the body can make it from other substances. Glucose is carried to the cells through the bloodstream.
what is Heterotroph ?
A heterotroph is an organism that eats other plants or animals for energy and nutrients. The term stems from the Greek words hetero for “other” and trophe for “nourishment.
what is Photosynthesis ?
Photosynthesis is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy into chemical energy that, through cellular respiration, can later be released to fuel the organism’s metabolic activities.
what is Producer ?
producer. an organism that produces. (makes) its own food. ex: a plant or algae. Producers get their energy by making their own food.
what is Monosaccharide ?
Monosaccharide, also called simple sugar, any of the basic compounds that serve as the building blocks of carbohydrates. The carbonyl group combines in aqueous solution with one hydroxyl group to form a cyclic compound (hemi-acetal or hemi-ketal). The resulting monosaccharide is a crystalline water-soluble solid
what is Polysaccharide ?
Polysaccharides, or polycarbohydrates, are the most abundant carbohydrate found in food.
what is Starch ?
Starch, a white, granular, organic chemical that is produced by all green plants. Starch is a soft, white, tasteless powder that is insoluble in cold water, alcohol, or other solvents.Starch is a polysaccharide comprising glucose monomers joined in α 1,4 linkages.
