Photosynthesis And Cellular Flashcards
- What are the chem changes and energy conversation associated with the process of photosynthesis? What are the products and reactants and location of every major step?
2 how do C3 CAM C4 plants obtain and use CO2? Relate the evolution of these mechanisms to process of natural selection and adaptation.
3 same as 1 with cellular respiration
4 Identify the purpose of alcohol and lactic fermentation. Compare the reactants, products
1 see the illustration on book
2 C3 can be found in moist climat live in area with water. Stomata open -> favourable to gas exchanges-> CO2 is directly fixed in CC in the stroma of mesophylls
CAM plants dry and hot envi-> stomata open at night close during daytime-> CO2 absorbed night -> a 4C molecule which is used in daytime to réforme CO2 and fixe it in the CC-> Mesophyll cell
C4 plants same-> stomata close most of the time-> when they are open-> CO2 absorbed-> is transformed into a 4C molecule which is transferred to the bundle-sheath cell -> CO2 is reformed and fixed in the CC in the bundled-sheath cell.
Aerobic respiration( involving O2)
- 1st step: In the cytosol- O2 not needed-> rxn is anaerobic— glycolyse -> 1glucose turn into 2pyruvates ATP and NADH(e carrier) are also made in the process
-2nd step: mitochondrion (matrix)citric acidic cycle-> 2pyruvates converted in 2 coA acetyl before entering in mitochondria in Kreb cycle- 2 CO2 are then made —- So acetyl CoA start the Kreb cycle then NADH FADH and CO2 are produced
ATPin small amount is produced in this process too
- 3rd step: Oxidative phosphorylation,ETC -> NADH AND FADH2 made in the previous step is an e carrier so it carries energy-> this energy fuels ETC-> e go from complex to complex in the inner membran of mitochondria til it reaches a final acceptor, O2 -> H2O
The energy of the e helpes the complexes to pump H+ against their gradiant -> from the matrix (low con of protons) to the intermembran space (high con of protons -> potential energy stored in the protons gradiant
ATP synthase provides the H+ with a channel that help them move with their con grandient-> from the intermembran space to the matrix-> the flaw of H+ through the enzym -> ADP+Pi = ATP Pi is phosphote is floating by itself it was not substracted to another molecule — vast majority of ATP procduced
