Photosynthesis Flashcards
What is the process of photosynthesis?
The process by which plants make oxygen + glucose from carbon dioxide + water. This reaction is energized by light. Photosynthesis converts light energy to chemical energy.
What is the respiration equation?
Carbon dioxide + water -> Glucose + Oxygen
6CO2+6H2O -> C6H1206 +6O2
What do plants use the products of respiration for?
Plants use glucose + oxygen for cell respiration (making ATP, the energy molecule), to form Cellulose. Which is the sugar that makes up cell walls. Any left of over glucose will be combined together as starch, molecule. It is then stored until needed.
What is respiration?
Respiration is something that is carried out by both plants and animals. It releases energy (but not as light) from the breakdown of glucose. The chemical energy in glucose came originally from the light trapped by the process of photosynthesis.
