Q

What experiment could tell you the link between light, photosynthesis and the presence of starch?

A

Put a leaf disc in boiling water for one minute (to burst cell membranes)
Put test tube full of alcohol in the hot water, and put leaf disc inside test tube.
The alcohol will turn green due to the chlorophyll dissolving.
Then put the colourless disc in warm water to soften it.
Add iodine solution to disc to test for starch.
Rinse with cold water to get rid of excess iodine.
Disc will be a blue-black colour.
