Photosynthesis Flashcards
Where does the light dependent reaction occur?
Thylakoid membrane
Products of light dependent reaction?
ATP and reduced NADP
How is NADP reduced in the light dependent reaction?
By the electrons in the electron transfer chain
What is the movement of protons in the light dependent reaction?
Proton pump actively transports protons into thylakoid space through ATP synthase channels
What does photolysis of water produce?
Protons, oxygen and electrons
Where does the light independent reaction occur?
Stroma of chloroplasts
Co2 reacts with RuBP to form?
2 molecules of GP, catalysed by rubisco
How are ATP and reduced NADP from the light dependent reaction used in the light independent reaction?
They reduce GP to TP
What is the TP in the light independent reaction used for?
To regenerate RuBP and converted to useful organic sugars
