Photosynthesis Flashcards
0
Q
How do plants use photosynthesis?
A
To make their own food
1
Q
What is the equation for photosynthesis?
A
Carbon dioxide + water (+sunlight+chlorophyll) = glucose + oxygen
2
Q
How are leaves adapted for photosynthesis?
A
Large surface area
Contain lots of chlorophyll
Full of small holes called stomata. They open and close to let in carbon dioxide. They also allow water vapour to escape
3
Q
What effects the rate of photosynthesis?
A
Amount of:
Light
Heat
Carbon dioxide
4
Q
What happens if there’s not enough light?
A
Photosynthesis slows down
5
Q
What happens if there’s not enough carbon dioxide
A
Photosynthesis slows down
6
Q
What happens if the temperature is too high or too low?
A
The plant will die
