Q

What are the 6 leaf adaptations to be more succesful for photosynthesis?

A

1.Large surface area for more light to fall on
2.Thin leaves so diffusion is short
3. Contain chlorophyll in the chloroplast to absorb light
4.Veins which bring water to cells through xylem and phloem to remove products of photosynthesis
5. Air spaces that allow carbon dioxide to get to the cells and oxygen to leave by diffusion
6.Guard cells that open and close stomata to regualte gas exchange

Q

How are algae adapted for photosynthesis?

A
  1. They are aquatic so they can do it in water
  2. Large surface area
  3. Absorb carbon dioxide in the water around them
  4. The oxygen they produce aso dissolves in water around them as it is released
