explain the photo ionisation of chlorophyll
photo ionisation of chlorophyll
Light absorbs chlorophyll which leads to the electrons becoming excited and move up an energy level
Step two
explain the light independent stage and electron transport chain
1) light is absorbed by the chlorophyll
2) electrons become excited and move through the electron transport chain
3) hydrogen ions are pumped through the thylakoid interior membrane space
4) creates an electro chemical gradient then hydrogens are pumped through atp synthase and atp is produced
5)electrons and hydrogens in chain are picked up by the NADP to make nadpH
6) water is broken down by photolysis
7)when electrons move through the electron transport chain photosystem 2 Electrons move to photosystem 1 leaving system two vacant which triggers photolysis of water
Explain how the products of cyclic and non cyclic photo phosphorylation differ
in non cyclic photo phosphorylation both PS2 and PS1 are involved and as a result both ATP. Reduced NADP and oxygen are produced whereas in cyclic phosphorylation it only involved PS1 and as a result it only produces a lot of ATP
Explain the limiting factors that reduced the rate of photosynthesis
Explain temperature
( check what graph looks like on notes )
Temperature is linked to the idea of enzymes at a low temperature there is less photosynthesis at a high temperature rate of photosynthesis is also low and it’s high at an optimum
Explain limiting factor
How does carbon dioxide limit the rate of photosynthesis
( check notes to see graph )
1) when the graph is positive and increasing it shows that co2 is limiting photosynthesis
Whereas when the graph slows or plateaus it shows that there is another factor that’s limiting the rate of photosynthesis
Limiting factors
Explain how light affects the rate of photosynthesis
( check the graph on notes )
As light increases the rate of photosynthesis increases shows me the which shows the rate of photosynthesis is dependent on the amount of light available
When the graph plateaus it shows that there is another facts that limits the rate of photosynthesis more then light and as a result when light increases the rate of photosynthesis does also increase
What is an action spectra
Shows the effect of light wavelength in the rate of photosynthesis
What is an absorption spectra
how much light of each wavelengths is absorbed by a pigment
