photosynthesis Flashcards
1
Q
what is the site of light independent reaction
A
stroma
2
Q
what are the three phases of light independent reaction
A
- carbon dioxide fixation
- reduction of PHOSPHOGLYCERIC ACID
- regeneration of RIBULOSE BIPHOSPHATE
3
Q
describe the reduction of phosphoglyceric acid
A
- phosphoglyceric acid is phosphorylated to from 1,3 biphosphoglycerate
- 1,3 biphosphoglycerate is reduced by electrons from NADPH to form trios phosphate
4
Q
what are the three stages of photosynthesis
A
light harvesting
light dependent reaction
light independent reaction (co2 fixation, reduction of phosphoglyceric acid, regeneration of ribulose biphosphate)
5
Q
describe carbon dioxide fixation
A
carbon dioxide diffuses through stomata into chloroplast, where it combines with ribulose biphosphate to form phosphoglyceric acid.
6
Q
site of light dependent reaction
A
granum
