Photoelectric phenomena Flashcards
1
Q
1
A
The electron get ejected from the metal they’re hit by individual photons
2
Q
2
A
The photons then transfers energy to the electron which is ejected from the metal. In this process the photon is destroyed
3
Q
3
A
However there’s a minimum energy that the photon needs to transfer in order to get the electron to overcome it’s attraction to the metal
4
Q
4
A
That minimum energy is called the work function energy
5
Q
5
A
If the photon has less energy than the work function then it won’t go anywhere
6
Q
6
A
But if the photon has more energy than the work function the some of the photons energy will be used up to tear the electron away from the metal and the rest will givee kinetic energy
