Q
Phosphate roles
A
• Energy production and storage
• DNA and RNA structure

Q
Phosphate pathological variations
A
Hypo-phosphatemia:
•Due to low bone reabsorption, high bone mineralization, and high renal excretion.
•Causes include hyperparathyroidism, respiratory alkalosis, and aluminum poisoning
Hyper-phosphatemia:
•Due to high bone reabsorption, low bone mineralization, and low renal excretion.
•Causes include kidney disease, tumors, and hypoparathyroidism.
