Treating phobias: systemic desensitisation
Counter conditioning, uses reciprocal inhibition.
client + therapist make an anxiety hierarchy, client taught deep muscle relaxation, works their way up the hierarchy while maintaining relaxation, if they become upset start again

Classical conditioning
Learning through association. Neutral stimulus (dog) paired with unconditioned stimulus (bite) making a new stimulus response link. Neutral stimulus is now conditioned stimulus that produces a conditioned response (fear)
Operant conditioning
Learning through reinforcement. Behaviours are punished or rewarded
