Man are innately inclined to chaps and death; evil.
- the only way to overcome this is with a strict strong government with one man as sovereign
- hobbes supported Absolute government
Lockes theory of mankind
People are innately good and only need government for rights such as land
How did science affect western philosophy?
- People came to the happy conclusion that they could finally rationalize things.
- now that things had logical evidence , people began to rethink the role of the church
- philosophers were unhappy with these new scientific findings
