Q

Proper way to eat with your hands.

A
  1. First, wash your hands before you sit down to eat. Your host will let you know when you should start serving yourself by a quick raise of the eyebrows. In many cases, the host will have already served your food in your section of the banana leaf.
  2. You scoop the rice, using your right index fingers and thumb, gently roll it between fingers (not your palm!) into a ball until the rice sticks together.
  3. Then, dip your rice ball into the sauce on the banana leaf, mixing it with a small amount ofulam(any vegetable or meat served with rice). Make sure that your all your fingers are shaped around the rice andulamball.
  4. Then, lift your hand towards your mouth while leaning your head forward and pop the whole thing in your mouth making sure that your fingers are close to your lower teeth.
