Phase 3 Flashcards
What are the back coordination requirements for the following sectors?
a) Nadi
b) Brisbane
c) Tahiti
d) Oakland
e) Santiago
10 minutes
When restarting the Main OCS Platform, what is the difference between a hot start and a cold start?
In hot mode: the system is restarted using the last system data “snapshot”.
In cold mode: the system is restarted then updated using air traffic management data recovered from the sync servers.
How are OCS failure conditions categorised?
- partial failure of the OCS Main Platform
- OCS Main Platform stall
What actions must a controller take when it is considered that an OCS Main Platform stall is likely, or a partial failure has occurred and OCS is operating without an operational standby workstation or FDP?
The controller shall resolve all conflicts, including those categorised as “Advisory”
Give an example of the abbreviated descent clearance issued to A/G for flights destined for NCRG, NFTF, NIUE, NSFA & NSTU from above F245.
MIS - (ACID) AT (time) STD DESC
What is the provision of an alerting service to aircraft departing Norfolk Island based on?
EOBT contained in flight plan
What is the standard release and RTF contact point for aircraft descending into Tonga from AA OCA?
Release passing F245
RTF top of descent time
What is the standard release and RTF contact point for aircraft descending into NSTU from AA OCA, and to whom is the aircraft released?
Released to Faleolo Tower passing F245
RTF top of descent time
What is the standard release and RTF contact point for aircraft departing NSFA and entering AA OCA?
Release passing F245
RTF time of departure plus 5 minutes
Can Nadi apply T10RNP between two aircraft in trail?
Yes
Can the following neighbouring states apply 50nm laterally between RNP 10 certified aircraft?
a) Nadi
b) Brisbane
c) Oakland
d) Tahiti
e) McMurdo
a) Yes
b) Yes
c) Yes
d) Yes
e) Yes
What is the agreed procedure when issuing levels to southbound Antarctic flights?
Southbound Antarctic flights operating between F245 and F600 shall be cleared at different levels until:
- it is known that the preceding aircraft is beyond the PSR time or
- it is past the preceding aircraft’s ETA at destination
Explain the “good operating practice” when receiving a “time out of conformance” position report.
Verify with the aircraft any change in actual time over the waypoint or the estimate for the next waypoint of 3 minutes or more.
Name the three OCS contigency phases.
- Recovery
- Limited ATS
- Restoration of ATS delivery to OCS
What is the objective of the “recovery” phase?
Ensure a safe air traffic environment until aircraft, that at the time of the multiple OCS failure were operating within or about to enter the Auckland OCA, have vacated the area.
During the recovery phase when are aircraft permitted to enter the AA OCA?
Only aircraft that have been previously coordinated and accepted.
What is the objective of the limited ATS phase and what if any restrictions apply to aircraft?
To provide a safe air traffic environment to the extent possible given the circumstances and allow aircraft to operate within the Auckland Oceanic FIR. OCA remains class A airspace.
What is the definition of a navigation error?
Navigational deviation:
- an unauthorised lateral deviation of 15nm or more, observed by any means,
- a variation of 10nm or more from a specified longitudinal distance standard, observed by ADS-C,
- a variation of 3 minutes or more from a specified time given for a reporting point or FIR boundary
