Q

Select one drug from your area of practice and discuss its pharmacodynamic actions of the drug

Flucloxacillin
SITE OF ACTION

A

Bacterial Cell Wall

17
Q

MODE OF ACTION

A

Bonds to specific penicillin binding proteins located inside the bacterial cell walls and inhibits the 3rd and last stage of cell synthesis

Exerts a bactericidal effect on streptococci

Inactivated the penicillin binding proteins interfering with the peptidoglycan chains necessary for bacterial wall strength and rigidity eventually causing cell lysis

18
Q

DURATION OF ACTION

A

The half life is 53 minutes. It is usually excreted into the urine within 8 hours
