How does triptans work?
A
Triptans are agonists at 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D receptors, decreasing trigeminal neuron activity, and causing:
- Vasoconstriction of cerebral blood vessels
- Inhibition of vasoactive peptide release by trigeminal neurons
- Inhibition of nociception
