into the bone. reaches the bloodstream through the bone marrow.
Subcutaneous (SC) injection
under the skin. absorbed slowly.
Usually when it cannot be taken by the mouth.
Intramuscular (IM) injections
into the muscle. Absorbed quickly because muscles have a lot of blood vessels.
Inhalation
inhaled into the lungs so then it can be absorbed into the bloodstream more quickly
Sublingual (SL)
under the tongue. faster than oral
Transdermal
through the skin
Intranasal (IM)
liquid medication through the mucosal
