Q

Define volume of distribution

A

the amount of drug in the body compared with concentration of the drug in the blood plasma. This predicts whether the drug will largely collect in the blood or in the tissue. Drugs that remain within the vascular system will have a low volume of distribution, while drugs that are highly bound to tissue will have a high volume of distribution
