Q

How do glidants work

A

Improve powder flow
- Forms a thin film on particle surface > particles are further apart > lower cohesion force
- reduces electrostatic cohesive forces between powder particles

6
Q

What is the importance of granulation

A

Particle enlargement > improves flow
Optimal size : 200-250 micrometre
75-100micro meter : problem with flow due to cohesive forces, static electrical forces

Q

Glidant efficiency is assessed from angle of repose. What is the formula for glidant efficiency and angle of repose?

A

Glidant efficiency : rate of flow with Glidant / rate of flow without

Angle of repose: tan (a) = height of cone/radius (< 20 = good flow)
