Reduce glucagon secretion
Reduce hepatic insulin extraction
Increase insulin secretion , 50% excretion in feces , 50% in urea
Glyburide
Increase insulin secretion and doesn’t affect cvs
Glimepiride
Repaglinide & nateglinide
Low incidence of hypoglycemia
Metformin
Reduce hepatic glucose output , inhibit gluconeogenesis
Side effects : lactic acidosis
Thiazolidenediones
Regulate transcription of genes involved in glucose utilization
Causes fluid retention
Exenatide
Incretin mimetic , GLP-1 analog
Reduce after meal glucagon secretion
Maintain B cell mass
Sitagliptin + linagliptin
DPP4 inhibitor —> ⬆️ GLP —> stimulate insulin secretion
Acarbose
Inhibit carb absorption and digestion
