What is succinylcholine?

A
  • binds postsynatpic nAChRs
    phase 1: depolarizes
    phase 2: changes conformation = desensitized to Ach
    –> membrane repolarized but not Ach or succinylcholine can bind so reamins flaccid
  • ach ultimately overcomes phase 2 block

–> can lead to hyperkalemia
