Pharm Immuno-modulators Flashcards
1
Q
cyclosporine
A
- binds to cyclophilin
- prophylaxis for GVHD and tx for uveitis
- metabolized by P4503A; multidrug interactions
- induces TGF-B, promotes tumor invasion & metastasis; increases incidence of lymphomas and Kaposi’s
2
Q
tacrolimus
A
- same indications as cyclosporine
- standard prophylaxis for GVHD
- metabolized by P450 system
3
Q
sirolimus
A
- blocks mTOR & response of T cells to cytokines
- same uses as tacrolimus
- only available in oral formulation
4
Q
mycophenolate mofetil
A
- inhibits inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase
- tx for refractory rejection
- alternative to cyclosporine or tacrolimus
- prophylaxis for GVHD
5
Q
alemtuzumab
A
- binds CD52
- tx refractory B-cell ALL in pts on alkylators and that have failed fludarabine therapy
6
Q
bevacizumab
A
- binds and inhibits VEGF
- anti-angiogenic drug = inhibit blood vessel growth in tumors
- first line tx for metastatic colorectal CA
- can be used alone or w/ chemo
- contraindications = SBP >160 & 2+ or greater proteinuria on UA
7
Q
cetuximab
A
- targets EGFR
- inhibits tumor cell growth by decr kinase activity, matrix metalloproteinase activity, and incr apoptosis
- tx for metastatic colorectal CA b/c the tumor over-expresses EGFR
8
Q
gemtuzumab
A
- specific for CD33 which is expressed on leukemic blast cells in pts w/ AML
- tx for relapsed CD33 AML
9
Q
rituximab
A
- binds CD20 on malignant B lymphocytes
- tx for pts w/ relapsed or refractory low-grade or follicular B-CELL NHL
10
Q
trastuzumab
A
- binds human epidermal growth factor receptor (HER-2)
- tx of metastatic breast CA in pts w/ tumors that over-express HER-2
11
Q
tx of goodpasture syndrome
A
- prednisolone
- cyclophosphamide
- plasma exchange
12
Q

13
Q
tx of psoriasis
A
- betamethasone (dipropionate)
- cyclosporine
14
Q
