Loperamide (MOA)
A
Imodium
Binds to mu opiate R in colonic myenteric plexus, slowing peristalsis. (Antidiarrheal)
This inhibits Ach release from myenteric plexus neurons.
Unlike others opiates Loperamide does NOT cross the BBB.

A
Stimulates intestinal fluid absorption and inhibits prostaglandin synthesis. (antispasmodic effect)

Reduces secretion of pancreatic and GI hormones

Binds bile acid in intestines (used for bile-acid diarrhea)
