Pharm ANS Flashcards
Muscarinic receptors in the lacrimal glands stimulate what?
Stimulate tear production
Alpha 1 receptors in the eye stimulate what?
Contraction of the iris radial muscles (pupil dilates)
Muscarinic receptors in the eye stimulate what?
Contraction of the iris sphincter muscle (pupil contacts)
Contraction of ciliary muscle (lens accommodates for near vision)
What do muscarinic receptors do to the salivary glands?
Create copious watery secretions
What do alpha 1 receptors do to the salivary glands?
Create thick, viscid secretion
What do B2 receptors do in the lungs?
Cause bronchodilation
What do Muscarinic receptors do in the lungs?
Constricts, increases secretions
What do B1 receptors do in the heart?
Increase rate, increase contractility
What do muscarinic(2) receptors do in the heart?
Decrease rate; decrease contractility
What do N type receptors do in the adrenal medulla? (Nicotinic neuronal)
Cause epinephrine and norepinephrine to be secreted
What do B1 receptors stimulate in the kidneys?
Secretion of renin (B1 increases a1 decreases)
What do B2 receptors stimulate in the GI tract? What about alpha 1?
Decrease in muscle motility and tone - B2
Alpha 1 - contraction of sphincters
What do muscarinic receptors do in the GI tract?
Increase muscle motility and tone.
What do B2 & A1 receptors do in the ureters and bladder? What about muscarinic?
Relaxes detrusor; contraction of trigone and sphincter
Muscarinic - contraction of detrusor; relaxation of trigone and sphincter.
What do B2 receptors do in the Genitalia (female)
Relaxation of the uterus
