Q

What is “Degree of dissociation (a)”?

A

a = moles in ionized form, (H+) / total number of moles, C

Q

What are “Acid-base indicators”?

A
  • Indicators are substances which change color with pH. They are usually weak
acids or bases, which when dissolved in water dissociate slightly and form ions.
  • At low pH value, the concentration of H+ is high so the equil position lies to the left, and has the color A
  • At high pH value, the concentration of H+ is low so the equil position lies to the right, and has the color B
