F.S. 828.29
Pet Law requirements for sale of dog or cat in Florida
- 8 weeks or older
- must have completed OCVI for EACH animal offered for sale
- must have required vaccinations, anthelmintics and tests
FDACS-09085 OCVI must have
- age, sex, breed, color of animal
- tests performed + result
- vaccines administered
- name and address of seller and purchaser
- name, address and Florida license number of vet
- official signature of vet

Rabies (if older than 3 mo)

Dog or cat must be free of all external parasites except for:
Fleas or ticks
I’m the absence of definitive parasite dx, what must be done?
Must be given a broad spectrum anthelmintic
When can the vaccination or deworming requirements be deferred/not given?
If a licensed, accredited veterinarian deems it not in the best medical interest of the animal and certifies this on the official certificate as such.
Who gets what paper?
Original signed copy goes to purchaser at time of sale (seller responsibility)
Carbon copy 1 retained by seller for minimum of 1 year
Carbon copy 2 retained by veterinarian for minimum of 1 year from exam date
What is the timeframe for a purchaser to notify the seller of a pet problem?
Within 14 days of the sale for illness or disease
Within 1 year for congenital/ hereditary defect
