Acronyms of CPM
Critical Path Method
a statistical tool used in project management, which was designed to analyze
and represent the tasks involved in completing a given project.
PERT
technique where you identify tasks that are necessary for project completion
and determine scheduling flexibilities
CPM
the longest sequence of activities that must be finished on time in order for the
entire project to be complete
CPM
Activities which could be done at the same time.
Parallel Activities
Activities which could not be done at the same time or activities which should be done one after the other.
Sequential Activities
the earliest possible point in time on which the uncompleted portions of an activity can START, based on the network logic and any schedule constraints.
Early start
the earliest possible point in time on which the uncompleted portions of an activity can FINISH, based on the network logic and any schedule constraints
Early Finish
the latest possible point in time that an activity can begin without delaying a specified milestone
Late start
represents the latest date an activity can finish, without delaying the finish of the project.
Late Finish
The longest path in the network.
It is also where slack is minimum
Critical Path
is the amount of waiting time between two tasks.Or in other words, ______ is the amount of time by which a successor activity will be delayed.
Lag
can be used in all the four logical relationships in scheduling, such as Finish-to-start (FS), start-to-start
(SS), finish-to-finish (FS) and start-to-finish (SF)
