Rhetorical questions.
Will not take ‘yes’ for an answer. Pressure the reader to give the precise response which the writer wished to evoke to make the reader agree.

Adds credibility to your argument

Everybody is aware of, as a matter of fact, we can remember.
Loaded questions.
Let subtle means of getting the same effect. ‘Surely not…’
Conceding a point to the opposition.
Creates the impression of objectivity.(by making their task more difficult, the writer will enjoy a greater trump)

Innuendo
an indirect comment, usually disparaging ( expressing the opinion of something that is of little worth), Both undermines the reputation of the opposition and created the impression that the writer is a person of integrity.( i’ve heard stories about reliable sources)
Use of figurative and non-figurative imagery.
Creates a favourable image in the reader’s mind in favour of the argument.(really, really, descriptive)
Use of expert witnesses

Cataloguing or listing
is effective for building up an overwhelming case
Personality
Engagement with readers ( if you, like me, like to )
Personal anecdote
Sense of humour (non aggressive humour, ability to laugh at himself, puns, hyperbole, irony, surprise turns)
Nostalgia
