Paranoid personality disorder.
A
- very distrustful of others, even those close to them
- person is guarded and suspicious
- may hold grudges persistently
- may seek clues and suggestions to support fears
- does not deal with failures or setbacks well

Schizoid personality disorder.

- no desire to interact with others or find it difficult
- introverted and fantastical
- lacks emotional response
- detached and aloof and no desire for social or sexual relationships
- generally function quite well

- odd beliefs, magical thinking, suspiciousness and obsessive rumination
- believe others are harmful
- ideas of reference
- high risk of developing schizophrenia

- callous unconcern for the feelings of others
- irritable and aggressive
- acts on impulse
- often has criminal history
- lacks guilt

- borderline between psychotic disorder or anxiety disorder
- feelings of emptiness and fears of abandonment
- emotional instability
- outbursts of anger and violence (particularly in response to criticism)

Histrionic personality disorder.
A
- lack a sense of self-worth, and depend for their wellbeing on attracting the attention and approval of others.
- crave excitement and act on impulse or suggestion and can put themselves at risk
- have insincere affect which may interfere with relationships
- may be overly charming or inappropriately seductive
- do not deal well with criticism

Narcissistic personality disorder.
A
- extreme sense of self-importance and need to be admired
- envious of others and expects them to also be envious of him
- lacks empathy and willing to exploit others to achieve his own aims
- if he feels obstructed or humiliated can fly into fit of destructive anger and revenge

Avoidant personality disorder.
A
- believe that they are socially inept, unappealing, or inferior
- fear being embarrassed, criticized, or rejected.
- thought monitoring
- associated with anxiety disorders

Dependent personality disorder.
A
- lacks self confidence and feels need to be protected
- will look to others to make important decisions for them
- fears abandonment and may go to extreme lengths to ensure maintenance of relationships
- believes others are competent and powerful

Anankastic (obsessive-compulsive) personality disorder.
A
- excessive preoccupation with details, rules, lists, order, organization, or schedules; perfectionism so extreme that it prevents a task from being completed; and devotion to work and productivity at the expense of leisure and relationships.
