A

He suggested that there were three universal personality types linked to crime- extrovert, neuroticism and psychoticism

He proposed the arousal theory- individuals are motivated to act a certain way to maintain a certain level of physiological arousal

A

They are under aroused in the brain and need external arousal stimulation

They have a dampened reticular activating system so seek risk taking behaviour

What is neuroticism

A

Emotionally unstable and find it difficult to inhibit their behaviour and so act more aggressively

They are more jumpy and nervous and are likely to experience a flight or fight response which means their impulsivity makes violent responses more likely

A

They lack empathy, have no conscience so can commit crimes without remorse.
They have higher levels of testosterone which increases reward seeking, aggression and decreases fearfulness
