A persons unique and relatively unchanging psychological characteristics and behaviours shaped by experiences, talents, hobbies, attitudes, values, beliefs and many other factors

People strive to achieve certain needs; moving higher up the pyramid as they fulfil lower levels
Progression slows/disrupt due to failure on lower levels

Kate - hierarchy of needs
Basic - access to food water etc
Safety - job, education, family
Love - family, friends
Esteem - achieving, all energy into achieving

Humanistic (Strengths and weaknesses)

Emphasis on individual choice
Describes what it means to be human
Takes into account experience
Weaknesses
Too vague
Experience of one person may not relate to another
