Good choices made based on what you have learnt at school, from your family, and from people who have been a successful result in good consequences
What are bad consequences
Bad choices made on the influence of those people who are not concerned about your well-being will have bad or negative consequences. It will have a negative impact on your life

what is the influence of family in adulthood
as you grow and experience more of life and learn about other people’s views, you begin to question what your family taught you. you start to think independently as you move towards adulthood. you are exposed to ideas from the media, your environment, your friends and peers, culture, religion and community

as children grow up, they are exposed to images of people’s physical appearances and they see television shows about the lifestyles of others.
advertising in the media tempts teenagers to copy the celebrities they see because they are glamorous (attractive) and appear to have an exciting time.
what does environment refer to
the conditions in which people live for example fresh air, clean water, a clean home and a clean neighborhood
how does our environment influence our choices
if people are living in poverty, their personal lifestyle choices are affected because they have fewer opportunities available to them
what does your social environment refer to
people’s educational backgrounds, their living and working conditions, how much they earn, and their community and religious beliefs
how does our social environment influence our choices
often, people living in a positive social environment have expectations of success placed on the by their community members. they want the best for themselves and make the right lifestyle choices to achieve them. people in neighborhoods where crime is widespread may believe that they have fewer options for the future.
how can peers affect our decisions
peer pressure happens when teenagers are pressurized into doing thing they would not normally do. peer pressure can be negative or positive

it happens when teenagers are influenced by their friends to become involved in harmful activities. because teenagers feel the need to fit in with their group, they follow their peers

it helps teenagers to choose personal lifestyles aimed at achieving excellence in their academic work or sporting and cultural activities
what does culture include
beliefs, habits, and expected behaviour in theur upbringing
how does religion influence our choices
religions encourage people to think about the consequences of their actions.
most religions teach tolerance and kindness towards others, which encourages people to choose to treat others with respect
how does the community influence our decisions
people’s attitudes are often formed by those around them.
