What is the greater omentum?
Overlies transverse colon and small intestine.
What is the liver?
Has an important role in digestion and other functions.
What is the Peritonuem?
A thin, lubricating sheet of tissue, that covers the abdominal cavity.
What is the gallbladder?
Secretes bile and is involved in fat digestion.
What is the spleen?
Has a role in the immune system and helps filter blood.
What is the position/structure of the colon?
Descending, transverse, ascending.
What is the duodenum?
Receives the contents of the stomach with each wave of contraction. First part of the small intestines. The contents are then mixed with secretions of the duodenal walls, pancreas and gallbladder.
What is the colon?
Connects to the illeum at the caecum.
Ascending, transverse, descending, sigmoid. The colon removes water, salt, and nutrients to form stool.
What is the Caecum?
The beginning of the large intestine.
