NF 1 Criteria

A
  1. 6+ cafe au lait macules ( greater than 5mm pubertal pts or greater than 15mm post pubertal)
  2. 2 or more neurofibromas
  3. Freckling of axilla or inguinal region
  4. Optic glioma
  5. characteristic osseous lesion- sphenoid wind dysphasia or thinning of long bone cortex
  6. 2+ Lisch nodules
  7. Family member with NF 1

Test ulnar sensation on the dorsal surface of the hand since the dorsal sensory branch of the ulnar nerve leaves 2-3 inches proximal to the wrist

Ulnar compression at wrist (Guyons canal)- does not affect dorsal hand sensation
