MAHA

A

schistocytes
MAHA is defined as nonimmune hemolysis (ie, negative direct antiglobulin test) with prominent red cell fragmentation (schistocytes) observed on the peripheral blood smear. Other clinical findings are: AKI, neurological abnormalities, fever(rare), reduced ADAMTS13 activity.

ringed sideroblasts, otherwise macro or normcytic. Immature cells such as elliptocytes, tear drops, acanthocytes
Basophilic stippling, Howell jolly bodies, megablastoid nucleated cells. Reticulocytosis may be indicative of superimposed AIHA.
