Periodic Table Flashcards
Table of metal and non metal physical properties
Metal: Lustrous Hight Melting point Malleable Ductile
Non Metal: Non ductile Brittle Transparent thin sheet Not sonorous/deep bell voice
The physical properties of group 1
The lower down the more reactive they become . Their properties is that they are all reactive in a way
What is a group
A group os an amount of elements with different chemical reactions
What is a period
A period is the name given to a horizontal row of periodic table
Describe the trend in period 2
The trend is that the higher you go the more reactive the elements become.
They could react in oxygen or in liquid
Explain the chemical properties for group 1
All group 1 elements have exciting reaction with water. The reactions create hydrogen gas and also make alkalises. The reaction get more vigorous going down the group
Describe the physical properties of group 7
They have both low boiling boiling points and melting points. The melting point and boiling point increases as you go down the group and their colours become darker.
Describe the physical properties of group 0
They are very unreactive. From top to bottom they get slightly more reactive
Explain the chemical properties of group 7
Like most non metals they do not conduct electricity and have low melting points. They act vigorously with chlorine which creates a bright flame
What are displacement reactions in group 7?
A displacement reaction is when the more reactive element displaces the less reactive element.
Eg fluorine displaces bromine oxide= fluorine oxides+bromide
