There are 8 groups in the periodic table.

What group are the alkaline earth metals in?
Group 2
Where are the transition metals located?
In the middle section of the periodic table
What group are the halogens in?
Group seven
Is the final group called group 0 or group 8?
Both-it can be called both group 0 and group 8, they both mean the same.
What group are the noble gases in?
The noble gases are in group 0/8
What are substances made of?
All substances are made of atoms
Define ‘element’…
A substance made up of only one type of atom. An element cannot be broken down chemically into any simpler substance.
Define ‘mass number’
The number of protons plus neutrons in the nucleus of an atom.
Define ‘atomic number’
The number of protons. (It is sometimes called the proton number).
