Perineum 1 Flashcards
Lateral margins of perineum
Formed anteriorly by ischiopubic rami and sacrotuberous ligaments posteriorly.
Anatomical position of triangles
Urogenital: horizontal plane
Anal: tilted upward at transtubercular line, faces more post
-triangles not in same plane
Roof of perineum
Levator ani muscles: separate pelvic cavity above from perineum.
-form cone shaped pelvic diaphragm
Urogenital hiatus
U shaped defect in urogenital triangle, allows passage of urethra and vagina.
Perineal membrane
- thick fibrous sheet that fills urogenital triangle
- free post border, anchored in midline to perineal body and attached laterally to pubic arch
Deep perineal pouch
- superior to perineal membrane
- contains layer of skeletal muscle and neurovasc tissues
- external urethral sphincter
Peripheral boundary
pelvic outlet
Ceiling
pelvic diaphragm (levator ani and coccygeus muscles)
Margin of perineum
Marked by inferior border of pubic symphysis at ant pt, tip of coccyx at post pt, ischial tuberosities at lat pt
