Perfusion and heart rate Homeostasis Flashcards
Perfusion
Main goal of the arteriole System
Provide adequate blood flow
Through capillary beds
Ensures adequate O2
What is the broad function of CV system?
- delivers substances
- removes Co2 and metablic end products
- Temperature homeostasis
What are two systems that control the heart rate?
-The conduction system
-cardiac center and autonomic nervous system
What are the structures of the conduction system?
How does conduction system work?
What is the role of the cardiac centre in heart rate maintainence?
it co-ordinates the autonomic nerve supply of the heart
injury or disorder in CC heart would stop beating imediatly
What is the role of the autonomic nervous system on the heart rate?
regulates normal heart rate and can adjust to meet demands
Parasympathetic- maintains normal
sympathetic increase heart rate
What is the range of heart rate in an adult?
50-90 bpm
What are the difference in heart rates in adults and children?
Childrens = higher
falls as they get older
Hypoxia
Broad term used for condition where oxygen demand exceeds suply (ATP production dimishes cell dies)
Myocardial cells
contractile cells
produce contractions propel blood out of the chamber
Conducting cells
specialized cells
autrothythmic cells
trigger heart contaction
