immediately before and after delivering “shock” using the AED what should you be doing?
CPR before and after
you should transport the patient when any of the following conditions applies (2)
patient regains a pulse
your local protocol indicates transport after prescribed number of shocks
When transporting a patient with a pulse you should do the following:
check airway and provide oxygenb at 15 lpm by nonrebreather or if patient is breathing hook up positive pressure ventilation
have suction ready for vomit
secure patient to stretcher (backboard more effective for compressions)
consider most effective way to getting the ACLS
keep AED attached to patient
perform 2nd assessment
reassess every 5 min
