Analysis of Cardiac Rhythms Flashcards
is the most commonly rhythm that the AED defibrillates
V-Fib
this is a disorganized cardiac rhythum that produces no pulse or cardiac output
Ventricular Fibrillation (VF or V-Fib)
This is a very fast heart rhythm generated in the ventricle instaed of the sinoatrial node in the atrium
Ventricular tachycardia
the AED should ONLY be applied to patients who are (4)
pulseless
not breathing
agonal respirations
unresponsive
this is the absence of electrical activity and pumping action in the heart. Often registers as “flatline” Chances for recovery r not good, Defib is not appropriate
Asystole
this activity the heart has an organized thythm, but either the heart muscle is so weakened that it fails to pump, or the heart muscle does not respond to the electrical activity, or the circulatory system has lost too much blood. Defib is not appropriate
Pulseless electrical activity
a manual defibrillation is preferred for patients less than
