Q

Hover Chart Critical wind azimuth area

A

Winds 050°-210° hinders t/r
(requires more power to counter Tq & wind)
Winds outside helps t/r
(requires less power to counter Tq)

Q

Power Check

A

In hover, level flight, or 60 mph climb
Anti ice and generator off
Raise collective to max TOT of 810°C or max TQ of 100%
Record OAT,ALT,TOT,TQ
Actual Tq must be ≥ chart Tq to be acceptable

Q

Deceleration Check - Roll off throttle

A

N2/Nr needles split & N1 100% to idle

Failure within 3 sec indicates sprag clutch seizure

Q

Tach Gen

A

Shaft inside produces electrical alternating current relative to the speed of N1, N2, or NR which is relayed to the gauge
no need for gen or battery power, as the tach gen produces it’s own current

Q

Hydraulic Bypass System 2 of 4

Pull hydraulic CB out

A

Removes power to solenoid
System has fail-safe mode to ON (solenoid off)
If cause is electrical, Hydraulic assist should be restored & Hydraulic fluid should flow through system

Q

Hydraulic Bypass System 4 of 4

If no change Turn hydraulic switch off

A
Solenoid is energized (on)
Hydraulic assist is off
Fluid is re-routed to reservoir
Prevents hydraulic assist system from
activating on final approach or landing

16
Q

Hydraulic Actuator Bolts

A

Restricted movement indicates stress between flight controls and actuator control rods input flight control
– pressure from hydraulic actuator moves control rod attached to the desired control

17
Q

Hydraulic Bypass Pin & A/F Oil Bypass Pin

A

Warns of dirty filter – senses build up of pressure due to blockage
reset once 30 min flight time prior to recheck

18
Q

Engine Auto Relight

A

Actuated by the decay of engine bleed air as a result of flameout
also reads N1 Tach gen
no activation above 12,000’

19
Q

Freewheel Unit Sprag Clutch

A

Metal sprags slightly longer than inner/outer diameter
With power engaged, sprags wedge between inner & outer and both turn together
In autorotation, inner drive shaft rpm is reduced (power off), but outer shaft is spun by inertia of the blades
The sprags between the two become un-wedged and allows the outer to turn freely
