A
- recall all items from the initial display
- 4.3 items recalled
- NOT influenced by # of items in the display
3
Q
sperling - partial report
A
1) tone is presented during the blank screen
2) the pitch of the tone indicates which row the subject was supposed to report
- 75% recalled
- # of items reported increased as the # of items in the display decreased
4
Q
sperling - conclusions
A
- differences in reports = differences in what is REMEMBERED rather than what is PERCEIVED
- whole report –> subjects quickly forgot the other items
- difference in recall could be attributed to output interference (# of items that have to be reported)
